KONSEP DASAR STUDI HADITS

Abstract

This study aims to examine the fundamental concepts of hadith and sunnah, describe the historical development of hadith studies from the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the contemporary era, and analyze the main approaches used to preserve hadith authenticity. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a library research approach by analyzing primary and secondary sources such as hadith compilations, scholarly books, and relevant academic journals. The findings indicate that hadith studies have developed gradually through several historical phases, including oral transmission, systematic codification, and the refinement of sanad and matn criticism methodologies. Furthermore, hadith studies continue to evolve by integrating classical and modern approaches to address contemporary challenges, including orientalist critiques. Thus, hadith studies remain a vital scholarly discipline in safeguarding the authenticity of the Prophet’s teachings as a foundation of Islamic law and guidance.
